Ministry of Education has urged the newly graduated youths from TakenoLAB to diligently maximize their digital and entrepreneurship skills obtained from the Digital Skills Development Innovation and Entrepreneurship trainings by TakenoLAB under the Digital Malawi Project being implemented by the Public Private Partnership Commission (PPPC).
Speaking on the 8th of December in Dowa during the second graduation ceremony the Luntha ndi Chuma initiative, Ministry of Education Director of Science, Technology and Innovation Associate Professor Chomora Mikeka said Malawi is on the right track in augmenting human capital development, the enabler 5 of Malawi 2063, as scads of youths and women are being equipped with technical and digital skills fit for the labour market, entrepreneurship as well as solving local problems.
“Right now, there are spurious assertions that Malawi/Africa is producing too much, and that there is no future. But we think otherwise. With Malawi 2063 in consideration, we think that if we have the requisite skills that are needed to solve the problems that we have, then we will have local capacity for local development and solutions that we currently are anticipating”, said Mikeka.
During the Ceremony, One Hundred and Twenty-Six (126) youths graduated from the second cohort of digital skills development innovation and entrepreneurship training program, Luntha ndi Chuma, by TakenoLAB.
Mikeka dared the graduated youths to be the solutions to local problems.
Mikeka said: “We need to move beyond describing problems when we encounter them. We need to be solutions to local problems”.
He then applauded the Government of Malawi through the PPPC for initiating Luntha ndi Chuma program.
Representing the Public Private Partnership Commission (PPPC), Simeon Mbalanje, said the Luntha ndi Chuma program has currently managed to train over 2700 youths and women with six hubs namely Ntha Foundation, DzukaAfrica, GrowthAfrica, mHub, Mzuzu e-Hub and TakenoLAB. He then extolled the latter for impacting various communities in Dowa and surrounding areas through the program.
Speaking online on behalf of the tech hub, the Founder and Director of the TakenoLAB, Remy Gakwaya, expressed gratitude to the government of Malawi through the PPPC for funding the hub.
The 126 graduates were trained in Digital Literacy, Web Development, E-lancing and Entrepreneurship.
