INVITATION TO A HYBRID PUBLIC STAKEHOLDER CONSULTATION MEETING ON THE ELECTRONIC TRANSACTIONS AND CYBER SECURITY ACT (ETCA) REGULATIONS – BINGU INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE CENTRE (BICC) IN LILONGWE AND ONLINE, WEDNESDAY 21ST FEBRUARY 2024 FROM 09H00.  

The Ministry of Information and Digitalization (MoID) through the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) wishes to notify the general public that it has developed draft regulations to help in the administration of the Electronic Transactions and Cyber Security Act (ETCA) of 2016 (Cap 74:02 of the Laws of Malawi). For this purpose, a task force team was instituted comprising the Ministry of Information and Digitalization, Ministry of Justice, Public Private Partnership Commission, National Registration Bureau, and Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority. The task force would like to invite interested parties, stakeholders, and the general public to the stakeholder consultation meeting, to discuss the draft regulations before submission for further processing to authorities.

In particular, we request the participation of Domain name registrants, telecommunications service providers, internet service providers, technology service providers, cryptography, and cyber security service providers to attend this important meeting.

 The public stakeholder consultation meeting will be held in Lilongwe, on Wednesday 21st February 2024 at Bingu International Conference Centre from 09h00.
