The Digital Malawi Acceleration Project (DMAP) will expand connectivity through the construction of cellular network towers in rural areas and the development of optic fiber networks to connect secondary schools, universities, colleges, and unserved government offices nationwide. These activities may result in socioeconomic impacts, including land acquisition, restrictions on land use, or resettlement.
This Resettlement Policy Framework (RPF) will provide guidance on managing these impacts and establishing Resettlement Action Plans where necessary. A central principle of the RPF is to ensure that all affected assets are compensated at replacement value for structures, and market rates for land, and that any affected livelihoods are fully restored.
